About Global RISE
Illuminating Indigenous Knowledge. Empowering Future Generations.
Our Belief
Global Research Institute for Indigenous Stewardship and Empowerment (Global RISE) is founded upon a simple but profound belief: that the wisdom of Indigenous peoples is not merely a part of our past, but an essential guide for our present and future. Despite geographic separation, Indigenous cultures often share common values of community, respect for nature, stewardship, ceremony, reciprocity, and connection to the sacred.
Why Global RISE?
- Global conveys international reach across every inhabited continent.
- Research Institute signals scholarly credibility and rigorous inquiry.
- Indigenous Stewardship reveals the power of Indigenous knowledge systems for land, water, and biodiversity.
- Empowerment emphasizes action and impact—not research and documentation alone.
The acronym RISE is symbolic: Indigenous peoples, cultures, and knowledge systems—rising into visibility and recognition. We advance Indigenous knowledge, cultural resilience, and community empowerment through research, education, and global partnerships.
Why the Rising Sun?
The sun is a powerful symbol found across Indigenous cultures and continents. It represents knowledge, life, growth, resilience, and hope. Just as one sun shines upon all peoples, Indigenous communities around the world share enduring values—despite global spread, the sun connects us through wisdom.
Our logo concept—a rising sun with a globe and communities gathered around it—reflects illumination of Indigenous knowledge and empowerment of future generations. One Sun. Many Ancient Communities. Shared Wisdom to Illuminate the Future.
Africa (San, Makua); Americas (Kayapó, Yanomami, Kokopelli traditions); Oceania (Māori, Aboriginal, Huli); Asia (Drokpa, Andamanese, Adivasi communities); and Europe (Roma and other traditional peoples)
Summer Solstice Launch — June 21, 2026
For millennia, Indigenous communities and ancient civilizations have recognized the solstice as a time of reflection, gratitude, renewal, and connection to the natural world. Launching Global RISE Center on the Summer Solstice reflects our commitment to bringing light to histories that have too often been overlooked, elevating voices that have too often been marginalized, and illuminating pathways toward a more sustainable and inclusive future.
As the sun reaches its zenith, we launch with humility, respect, and hope—honoring the wisdom of ancestors, supporting the leaders of today, and inspiring future generations to learn from the world's oldest living knowledge traditions.
Foundational Philosophy
One Sun. Many Ancient Communities. Across continents and centuries, Indigenous peoples have developed diverse yet interconnected ways of understanding humanity's relationship with nature, community, spirituality, and knowledge. While languages, customs, and histories differ, many Indigenous traditions share common principles:
- Respect for the natural world
- Collective social responsibility
- Intergenerational knowledge transfer
- Cultural continuity
- Stewardship for future generations
Global RISE seeks to illuminate these shared principles while honoring the uniqueness of each community.
Vision
To advance, preserve, and elevate Indigenous knowledge systems worldwide through research, education, collaboration, and innovation— creating pathways for cultural resilience, environmental stewardship, and community empowerment.
Mission
To serve as a global platform connecting Indigenous communities, scholars, practitioners, policymakers, and future leaders in the study and advancement of traditional knowledge, cultural heritage, and sustainable futures.
Vision by 2035
To become the leading global research hub connecting Indigenous knowledge holders, researchers, educators, artists, and youth from every inhabited continent in a collaborative effort to preserve heritage, strengthen cultural resilience, and apply ancestral wisdom to contemporary global challenges.
Expected Impact
Global RISE aims to become a leading international center for:
- Indigenous research and scholarship
- Cultural preservation
- Environmental stewardship
- Knowledge exchange
- Policy innovation
- Community empowerment
By bringing together ancient wisdom and modern research, we seek to demonstrate that solutions to many of humanity's future challenges may be found within the knowledge systems that have sustained communities for generations.
